9th October 2017
The start of the new season is upon us once again, and as usual I have to apologise for being a bit slow off the mark. I’m afraid my main clients are Indian and everything goes mental at this time of year with the upcoming Diwali being such an auspicious time to begin and conclude all kinds of business affairs I just get snowed under.
Anyway, the AGM will be at the Albion at 8.30 p.m. on Monday 16th October, full agenda to follow. As always if you have any issues to raise please let me know and as usual I would appreciate it if teams could confirm that they will be playing again this year ASAP.
As always, anyone can attend the meeting. New teams or players are always welcome, and I have contacted those people who enquired last year but were too late to enter a team.
Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the 16th.
29th October 2017
Minutes from the AGM are here for those who could not attend. We have a few changes this year, most important of which is that we now have a single division.
We lost another team since the AGM (Albion B, hopefully only temporarily) leaving 9 for this year. Also the Bat & Ball B have moved to the Hare & Hounds: those teams will be known as the H&H Hares and H&H Hounds again, I gather. Fixture list is here.
Another big change is that venues may choose not to provide food. It’s up to the individual teams but if you won’t regularly be offering food please let me know so visiting teams will know what to expect.
We shall again be running the Beer Round Challenge, so please don’t forget to report those scores alongside the main results.
Good luck to all on the 6th!
5th December 2017
Very sad to hear of the recent passing of Mo Stokes, founding secretary and long time organiser of this league. I have no further details but deepest sympathies go out to her family.
9th January 2018
Just a quick reminder for those teams who have not yet paid their subs for this season …
19th February 2018
I have today been informed of the recent passing of Peter Newman, long-
28th February 2018
Apologies for the late posting of results, had a bit of a crisis yesterday.
Also I have been further advised that Peter Newman’s funeral will be 8th March at 10:45, Aldershot Crematorium. Casual, colourful dress. No flowers. Donations to Phyllis Tuckwell or The Royal Marsden. Afterwards at The Jolly Farmer.
I hope to attend on behalf of the league.

Oops! apologies for forgetting to publish this yesterday (and post to Facebook).
This year’s champions are the Bat & Ball with 28 points, followed by the Albion with 27. Final tables are here. The Albion top the Beer Round contest and so win the trophy, see results below.
Presentation and BFQ will presumably be at the Bat & Ball, details to follow when I confirm with the pub.
29th April 2018
With another bank holiday to contend with the Trophy Presentation and BFQ this year will be held at The Bat & Ball on the 14th May. As always proceedings start at 8.30 but please try and get along in good time to get a drink & find a seat.
As ever the BFQ is open to anyone concerned with the quiz -
And as always I would ask teams to let me know how many people are likely to be attending, even if you are not coming, so that we have some idea of how many to cater for. Thanks.
As usual I look forward to seeing all of you on the 14th.
16th May 2018
Monday saw our 27th Presentation Evening and Big Friendly Quiz, held at the Bat & Ball.
Winners of our single division this year were the Bat & Ball, with the Albion as runners-
Bat & Ball: Paul Judge, Pat Neill, Jeff Jann, “JR” Robertson and Anthony Sanders.
The Albion got their revenge in the BFQ, winning comfortably ahead of the Bat & Ball.
Thanks go to the Bat & Ball for hosting the evening, as usual laying on supper for the teams. I have sent a picture off to the Herald which should be in the next issue, so keep an eye out for that.
Well that’s about it until next season. Next up is the AGM which, it was decided last time, would be on the 3rd September.
