At last,
fixtures for the Monday 10th start can be found here.
Unfortunately
I made a mistake with the league structure at the AGM and still have had to
move Cricketers BL to Div 2 because of numbers. Sorry guys.
Sorry about
the delay and lack of communication - I have been busy, away and unwell since
the AGM.
I shall
post the AGM minutes and reset this website for the new season this weekend.
After
consideration I have decided that the proposed knock-out to fill some of the
rest days is not workable.
Any resting
teams wanting to play a friendly instead, please ask me and I can have a copy
of the questions provided.
As usual I
would be grateful if captains would acknowledge they are in receipt of the
fixtures and that all is in order for Monday. Thanks!
Please find
the agenda here for anyone who is interested.
Unfortunately
two teams are dropping out.
As usual I am
totally off the pace at this time of year, apologies etc. etc!!
Short notice I know, but the AGM will be at the Albion on 20th October at 8:30pm.
Agenda to
follow soon. Basically subs unchanged at £65 total and match dates
proposed as 10/11-08/12 and 05/01-02/03 assuming 13-16 teams.
I have had
no news of anyone dropping out nor of any teams wanting to join.
I have had
an inquiry from a lady very keen to find a team, if anyone is down a player and
would like to consider her please get in touch.
I would
appreciate if if all teams could let me know whether they will be playing this
year ASAP. Thanks.
Hope to see many of you on the 20th.
Trophy
Presentation and BFQ
this year will be at the Bat & Ball on the 7th April.
Proceedings start at 8.30 as usual - please try and get along in good time to
get a drink & find a seat!
As always the BFQ is open to anyone concerned with the quiz - substitutes, questionmasters, landlords - all are welcome.
Also as usual I would ask everyone to let me know how many people are likely to be attending from each team, even if you are not coming. This is very important so Kevin has some idea how many to cater for. Thanks.
Hope to see all of you on the 7th.
I have
spoken to Phil, our question setter, about the reused questions in the final
quiz. He is totally aghast at what happened, and cannot understand it since he
supposedly had a system in place to prevent re-use of questions within a
certain time, which has always worked OK for the various quizzes he sets. Many
apologies from Derby and there will be extra safeguards next year should he
still be setting our questions.
Well that’s
it folks, the final results for this season give us:
Div 1 |
|
|
|
Bat
& Ball A |
Winners |
Jolly
Farmer |
Runners-up |
|
|
Div 2 |
|
|
|
Albion
B |
Winners |
Frensham
RBL C |
Runners-up |
Unfortunately
there was the issue of the recycled questions.
This has
been noted. Words will be had.
Final thing
for this year is of course the Trophy Presentation and Big Friendly
Quiz, which this time will be at the Bat & Ball.
Further
details when I have confirmed things with the pub.
Results
this week mean that Bat & Ball A will win Div 1, with Jolly
Farmer second. Div 2 is between Albion B and Frensham RBL
C, who are neck and neck going into the final round, where they actually
play each other!
Sorry but
there was a typo in the results I posted this week. Albion B score 64
not 46, tables have been amended.
As
previously mentioned, Phil our question setter is away this week, hence the
double sets of questions.
As such
this week’s results obviously won’t be in the question packets next week.
Please note
that the question setter will be sending out TWO weeks worth of questions this
week, for the 10th & 17th of February.
They will
be clearly marked as to which week is which, but could you please ensure that your
pub is aware of the situation and keeps any questions for the 17th
safe.
Also could
I remind teams that any outstanding subs are due and I would appreciate
a cheque as soon as possible.
Thanks.
Sorry the
results weren’t up last night but there has been a spate of late results
recently.
PLEASE
remember to send the results ASAP! It’s easiest to text straight after the main
match.
Thanks!
The revised
Fixture List is now available.
As I hope
everyone now is aware, I have had to postpone our first round of the
year.
Phil, who sets
the questions, was unexpectedly admitted into hospital over New Year and did
not get the questions posted in time.
All
fixtures will now be moved on by 1 week, i.e. fixtures will still be played in
the published order.
This course
of action is to avoid undesirable consequences of simply moving fixtures to the
end of the year, such as on a previous occasion when one team had to sit out
two rest weeks at the very end.
I shall
publish new fixtures ASAP and distribute to pubs / captains as required.
Hooray!
I’ve been able to do the results after all!
Week 4
(25th November) I will be away on business in Madrid.
Please can I
ask everyone to TEXT me their results as soon as the main quiz is
complete (it won’t cost any more to text me abroad).
Also note I
probably won’t be able to do the league tables or update the website until I
get back on Friday.
Thanks!
Hi Folks, as usual it’s all a last-minute rush for me!
Here at last are the Fixtures and AGM minutes.
Matches start (for most teams) on 4th November as planned. I will be getting the printed details and registration stuff out to the pubs / captains ASAP, but for now see the Fixtures Page for your first match.
Good Quizzing on Monday everyone!
